Today's port, Åndalsnes, was the really the first along a fjord rather than amongst the islands. It seems a fairly small town, which meant everything was very close by. Our excursion for the morning was a train trip up the Rauma Valley, and the railway station was only a hundred metres away. It was a narrow, steep-sided valley lined by cliffs with waterfalls from the remaining snow and floored with small, green farms.
We went as far as Bjorli (more a stop than a town) and then shuffled onto a waiting bus for the journey back, with a couple of stops to take pictures.

After lunch Lynn went to look around the town while I walked up the hill behind the town. The track went up a ridge, rocky with tree roots and pine needles. At the 90 minute and 500m mark there was a lookout platform that I nervously sidled on to.

At the top (708m) there was a cafe where I had a hot chocolate before taking the cable car back down.
